The Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP)
I worked with CSTP to redesign their website to bring the website in line with contemporary standards. The existing website, crafted in 2009, bore the marks of an outdated design, necessitating a transformation to align with the modern aesthetic of 2023.

August 2023 – September 2023
The existing website, crafted in 2009, suffered from outdated design elements that compromised its overall aesthetics. The landing page, in particular, lacked the visual appeal needed to captivate visitors, hindering an impactful first impression. Additionally, security concerns arose from the use of outdated themes, underscoring the urgency for a comprehensive overhaul. This redesign aimed to not only address the evident visual and functional shortcomings but also ensure a modern, secure, and engaging online presence in 2023.
The project involved revamping a dated website with issues like poor aesthetics, an outdated landing page, and security concerns due to obsolete themes. The key goals were to modernize the site, address accessibility issues, and enhance the overall user experience. The outcome aimed to deliver a contemporary, accessible, and user-friendly online presence for 2023.
The design process for this project was a dynamic journey guided by the principles of modernization and inclusivity. It began with a comprehensive assessment of the existing website, identifying outdated elements and accessibility issues. The ideation phase involved brainstorming sessions to conceptualize a visually engaging yet accessible redesign. Execution entailed implementing the new design, emphasizing the vibrant CSTP color scheme. Throughout this process, the focus remained on achieving a contemporary look without compromising accessibility standards. The result is a thoughtfully crafted design that reflects both visual appeal and inclusive design principles.
Color & Typograghy
Adopting the CSTP color scheme of green, purple, and green played a pivotal role in the redesign. The challenge stemmed from the previous website’s non-compliant use of white text on a light green background, failing to meet accessibility requirements. In this redesign, the focus was on leveraging these vibrant colors to enhance aesthetics while ensuring accessibility. By incorporating these fun colors thoughtfully, we aimed to strike a balance, elevating the visual appeal without compromising on accessibility standards. The result is a website that not only looks engaging but also adheres to inclusive design principles.
The culmination of the redesign effort is showcased in the final product’s visual aesthetics. Below are snapshots offering a glimpse into the revamped website. The emphasis during the redesign process was on achieving a modern look and addressing accessibility concerns. The final design integrates the vibrant CSTP color scheme to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal without sacrificing accessibility. These screenshots capture the essence of a contemporary and inclusive online platform, reflecting the successful realization of the project’s goals.

Fortunate to participate in a CSTP Inclusive Practices Event for educators in Washington, I gained valuable inspiration that influenced the project’s direction. The following screen captures provide a visual journey through this event, offering a glimpse into the collaborative and innovative atmosphere that fueled ideas for the redesign. These images reflect the rich exchange of insights and experiences, serving as a testament to the dynamic development process that contributed to the project’s success.
